WineryGuide Privacy Policy
Effective: May 12, 2026
1. Who we are
WineryGuide is a Napa Valley discovery app published by Stravia LLC. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what choices you have.
2. What we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. The app does not require an account, an email address, a phone number, or any payment information.
- Location (when you grant permission): Used on-device only, to sort wineries by proximity and to frame the map around you. Your GPS coordinates never leave your device and are not transmitted to us or to any third party.
- Anonymous usage analytics: We use Aptabase to count anonymous events such as "category tapped" or "profile opened" so we can prioritize improvements. Events contain no personally identifiable information, no IP address history, no advertising identifiers, and no location data.
- Favorites and Itinerary: The wineries you save and the stops you add to "My Day" are stored locally on your device, in Apple's standard storage. They are not synced to our servers.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
- We do not access your contacts, photos library, calendar, microphone, or camera.
- We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect payment or financial information — the app contains no in-app purchases.
- We do not share or sell any data to third parties for advertising.
4. How we use the limited data we have
Anonymous analytics events are used in aggregate to understand which features are valued, which screens are slow, and where we should invest. They are not used to profile individual users, because the data simply doesn't identify you.
5. Third-party services
- Apple Maps (MapKit): Apple renders the map tiles and provides directions. When you tap "Get Directions," Apple Maps handles the routing under Apple's privacy policy.
- Aptabase: Anonymous, privacy-friendly analytics. See their privacy policy.
- External websites: Winery and event links open in Safari View Controller. We do not see what you do on those sites; their own privacy policies apply.
6. Your choices
- Location: Toggle location access at any time via iOS Settings → WineryGuide → Location. The app works without it; only proximity sorting and map auto-centering are affected.
- Analytics: Open Settings → Preferences → Analytics inside the app to opt out. Aptabase stops collecting and sending events immediately.
- Favorites and My Day: Manage in the app, or use Settings → Reset My Day to clear your itinerary. Removing the app deletes everything stored locally.
7. Data retention
Local data (favorites, itinerary, distance calculations) lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app. Anonymous analytics events are retained by Aptabase for up to 24 months and then automatically deleted.
8. Children's privacy
WineryGuide is intended for adults of legal drinking age (21+ in the United States) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
